The Most Important Verse in the Bible

Okay, I’ll admit it. The title of this blog is a bit of clickbait. There isn’t one verse in particular that is more important than any others because they are all the Words of God. Each word and letter has profound significance and no one can be placed above the others objectively. However, I do think that there is always a most important verse that exists for us every day, and that is the one you are going to read next.

Hebrews 4.12 says that the Word of God is living and active. Each time we open our Bibles and begin to read, we hear the voice of God guide us and teach us. The Bible is the primary way God communicates with us today. One of my buddies in Seminary used to say, “If you want to hear God speak, read the Bible. If you want to hear Him speak out loud, read the Bible out loud.” I love this because it helps us to realize the truth that God is speaking when we read the Bible. That’s why it’s called His “word.”

When we engage with Scripture, it’s like we are sitting at the feet of God listening to Him speak directly to us. That is why every time you sit down with your Bible it’s the most important time. What you hear from the Lord each time you sit with your Bible is vitally important to your life and probably has a direct impact on what you are experiencing at that exact moment and time. The Bible is like that. God knows what we are going through, so, often His Word speaks directly to those things.

Keep that truth in your mind the next time you open your Bible to read a few verses. Those next verses you are going to read will be the most important in your life so far.
