Cultivating Daily Worship
In a world that moves faster and faster with each passing day, it’s easy to let our spiritual lives drift into the background and become less of a priority in our daily lives. But, as believers, we are called to “abide in Him,” (check out John 15.4), to live in constant fellowship with God. Worship isn’t just a Sunday morning activity that we attend so we can put a “check in the box,” so to speak, it’s a daily rhythm that nourishes our souls and aligns our hearts with God’s will. So, this week I want to share some ways that we can cultivate daily worship in our lives and build a habit of holiness.
Start your day with intention
The way we begin our mornings sets the tone for the rest of the day. Think about your morning routine. If something gets messed up, your whole day is off, right? It’s the same with our spiritual lives. Before checking your phone or diving into your to-do list, pause to invite the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts. A simple prayer, reading a Psalm (or any Scripture, for that matter), listening to a worship song, or journaling can transform an ordinary morning into a sacred space and set you up for whatever God has in store for you that day.
Keep Scripture close
The Word of God anchors our worship. When we meditate on Scripture, we learn more about His nature and promises as well as ourselves and how we should respond. Try writing a verse on a sticky note or in a journal, or setting a reminder on your phone to take time every day, throughout the day, to constantly fill your mind and heart with God’s Word. Doing so will inevitably draw you closer to Him and give you the guidance you need to follow Him more closely.
End your day with reflection
Evening is a great time to reflect on God’s faithfulness and what He has done for you that day. Before bed each night, take a few moments to thank Him and praise Him. Use this time to unload everything you need to from the day and to prepare yourself for the next day. This will help you train your heart to rest in His peace and trust in His strength.
Closing thought
True worship is more than music or prayer, it’s a way of life. Romans 12.1 reminds us to “offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is your true and proper worship.” Cultivating a daily worship routine isn’t about perfection, it’s about presence. God delights in your desire to draw near to Him. As you build this rhythm into your daily life, you’ll find that worship isn’t just something you do, but who you are.
